Why Clay?

SCROLL DOWN

Why Clay?

I was a painting and drawing major in college fascinated with all the arts. In my junior year I wanted to take printmaking but the classes were full; however, there was space in ceramics....

I found that clay continuously challenged me. I could paint, sculpt, incorporate photography and study chemistry and history. My work could be functional and I could connect with people on a daily and personal basis.

After more than forty years of squeezing clay I am still learning and being surprised by its magic. I have worked in industry, taught, studied with a master, had a shop near a California beach, exhibited in many venues, and designed and worked with clay in many studios.

I have recently finished building my latest studio and am ready to continue exploring the magic.
